Takkojärjestelmät

Takkojärjestelmät, often translated as fireplace systems or hearth systems, refer to the integrated components and design principles that ensure the safe and efficient operation of a fireplace. This encompasses not only the visible firebox and chimney but also the underlying structures and materials that manage airflow, heat transfer, and combustion byproducts.

A typical takkojärjestelmä includes the firebox, where the fire burns, usually constructed from fire-resistant materials like bricks or steel. Above the firebox is the throat, which controls the passage of smoke into the chimney. The smoke chamber, located above the throat, further concentrates the smoke before it enters the flue. The flue itself, a vertical shaft, carries the smoke and gases out of the building, with its size and material critical for proper draft.
