Tachogenerátorok

Tachogenerátorok, often translated as tachogenerators, are devices used to measure the rotational speed of a rotating shaft. They are essentially electromechanical transducers that convert rotational motion into an electrical signal, typically a voltage or current. This electrical output is directly proportional to the speed of rotation, allowing for accurate speed measurement and control.

The most common types of tachogenerators are based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. A rotating magnetic field, generated by a permanent magnet attached to the rotating shaft, induces a voltage in a stationary coil. The magnitude of this induced voltage varies directly with the speed of rotation. Another type is the optical tachogenerator, which uses a light source and a photodetector to count pulses generated by a slotted disk attached to the shaft. The frequency of these pulses is then used to determine the rotational speed.

Tachogenerators find widespread application in various industries. They are crucial components in motor control systems, where they provide feedback to maintain a desired speed or to implement precise speed regulation. In robotics, they enable accurate control of joint movements. Automotive applications include their use in cruise control systems and anti-lock braking systems.
