TVjuhtmed

TVjuhtmed is a term commonly used in Estonia to refer to television cables. These cables are essential for connecting a television set to various sources of video and audio signals. The most prevalent type of TVjuhtmed historically has been coaxial cables, used for receiving broadcast television signals via an antenna or cable television service. These cables typically have a central conductor surrounded by an insulating layer, a braided metal shield, and an outer protective jacket. They are secured using F-connectors, which are screw-on fittings.

With the advent of digital television and higher-definition content, other types of TVjuhtmed have become increasingly important. High-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cables are now standard for connecting devices such as Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and streaming devices to modern televisions. HDMI cables transmit uncompressed digital video and audio data, offering superior picture and sound quality compared to older analog connections. Another common type is the component video cable, which uses three separate cables (red, green, and blue) to transmit the video signal, and two additional cables for audio.

In some contexts, TVjuhtmed can also encompass older analog connection types like composite video (a single yellow RCA connector for video, usually paired with red and white RCA connectors for stereo audio) and S-Video cables, which offer a slightly better video quality than composite by separating luminance and chrominance signals. The selection of the appropriate TVjuhtmed depends on the types of devices being connected and the desired quality of the audio-visual experience.
