Töötluskeskus, also known as a machining center, is an automated machine tool that can perform various metalworking operations without requiring manual tool changes. It integrates multiple functions such as milling, drilling, boring, and tapping into a single unit. This automation is achieved through a tool changer that holds a library of tools and can select and install the appropriate tool for a given operation. Workpieces are typically held in a fixture and moved relative to the cutting tool.

The core of a töötluskeskus is its computer numerical control (CNC) system, which directs all machine movements and operations based on programmed instructions. This allows for high precision, repeatability, and the ability to produce complex shapes. Töötluskeskused can be classified by the number of axes they possess, with three-axis machines being common for simpler tasks and multi-axis machines (four, five, or more axes) enabling the machining of highly intricate geometries from multiple angles in a single setup.
