Távértékesítések

Távértékesítések, also known as distance selling, refers to the sale of goods or services to consumers without their simultaneous physical presence. This typically occurs through various communication channels such as online platforms, mail order, telephone, or television. The key characteristic of távértékesítések is that the consumer cannot physically inspect the goods or receive advice from the seller before the contract is concluded.

Regulations surrounding távértékesítések aim to protect consumers by granting them specific rights, most notably a cooling-off period. This period allows consumers to withdraw from the contract within a statutory timeframe, usually 14 days, without needing to provide a reason and without penalty. During this period, consumers can examine the goods as they would be able to in a physical store. If they decide to return the goods, they are generally responsible for the cost of return shipping, unless otherwise stipulated.

Sellers engaging in távértékesítések have clear obligations. They must provide consumers with comprehensive information before the contract is concluded, including details about the goods or services, the seller's identity and contact information, the total price including taxes, delivery costs, payment methods, and the consumer's right of withdrawal. Contracts concluded through távértékesítések must be confirmed in writing or on a durable medium accessible to the consumer. These regulations are designed to ensure a fair and transparent marketplace for remote transactions, balancing the convenience of distance selling with the need for consumer protection.
