It refers to the act of intentionally and selectively showcasing only positive or aesthetically pleasing aspects of one's life online, while omitting or downplaying any negative experiences, struggles, or mundane realities. This curation of content aims to present an idealized version of oneself, often for social validation or to maintain a particular online persona.

The practice of sólistar is closely related to the broader concept of "highlight reels" often associated with social media. While many users naturally present favorable aspects of their lives, sólistar implies a more conscious and systematic effort to filter out anything deemed undesirable. This can lead to a disconnect between a user's online portrayal and their actual offline experiences.
