Szívangiográfia

Szívangiográfia, also known as cardiac catheterization or coronary angiography, is a medical imaging procedure used to examine the blood vessels of the heart. It is a diagnostic tool that helps doctors assess the health of the coronary arteries and identify any blockages or narrowing.

The procedure involves inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually in the groin or arm. The catheter is then guided through the arteries to the heart. Once in place, a special dye is injected through the catheter, which makes the coronary arteries visible on X-ray images. These images, called angiograms, allow physicians to see the flow of blood and pinpoint any areas of obstruction.

Szívangiográfia is typically performed when a patient experiences symptoms of heart disease, such as chest pain (angina), shortness of breath, or has had a heart attack. It can also be used to evaluate heart valve function or to diagnose congenital heart defects.
