Szélmodelleket, often translated as "wind models," refers to a broad category of scientific tools and techniques used to simulate and predict wind patterns and their associated phenomena. These models are crucial for a variety of applications, including weather forecasting, climate change research, wind energy assessment, and air pollution dispersion studies.

At their core, wind models are based on mathematical equations derived from the principles of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and atmospheric physics. These equations describe how air moves, how it is influenced by factors like temperature, pressure, and the Earth's rotation, and how it interacts with the Earth's surface. Numerical models discretize the atmosphere into a grid and solve these equations at each grid point, allowing for the simulation of wind flow over time and space.
