Szulfátészterek

Szulfátészterek, also known as sulfate esters, are a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of a sulfate group (-OSO3-) esterified with an organic moiety. They are formed by the reaction of sulfuric acid with an alcohol or phenol. The general formula for a sulfate ester is R-OSO3R', where R and R' represent organic groups. In simpler sulfate esters, one of the R groups is hydrogen, making them sulfuric acid monoesters, while the term "sulfate ester" typically refers to diesters where both R and R' are organic.

These compounds exhibit a range of chemical properties depending on the nature of the organic groups attached. Sulfate esters are often polar due to the presence of the highly electronegative oxygen and sulfur atoms in the sulfate group.
