Szmerowe

Szmerowe is an adjective in Polish derived from szmer, meaning murmur, rustle or hiss. The term is used to describe qualities or phenomena that are noise-like, diffuse, or lacking a distinct pitched tone. It is employed across disciplines to indicate texture or character dominated by sound rather than by melody or clear pitch.

In linguistics and phonetics, dźwięki szmerowe (szmerowe dźwięki) are sounds that have a prominent noise component. This often includes fricatives and other sounds produced with turbulent air flow.
