Szemcsekisülés

Szemcsekisülés is a Hungarian term that translates to "eyelash fall" or "eyelash shedding" in English. It refers to the natural process by which eyelashes grow, mature, rest, and eventually fall out. Like hair on other parts of the body, eyelashes have a growth cycle. This cycle consists of several phases: anagen (growth phase), catagen (transitional phase), and telogen (resting phase). During the telogen phase, the eyelash loosens and eventually falls out, making way for a new eyelash to begin growing.

This shedding is a normal physiological process, and individuals typically lose a few eyelashes each day without noticing. The average lifespan of an eyelash is around 3 to 6 months. Factors that can influence the rate of eyelash shedding include age, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, stress, and certain medical conditions or treatments like chemotherapy. Eye infections, allergies, or excessive rubbing of the eyes can also contribute to increased eyelash loss.

While some degree of eyelash shedding is normal, a noticeable or sudden increase in loss may warrant attention. If concerned about excessive eyelash shedding, consulting a healthcare professional or a dermatologist is recommended to identify any underlying causes and discuss potential management strategies.
