Szívszívelégtelenség, also known as heart failure, is a chronic medical condition in which the heart muscle cannot pump blood as well as it should. This means that the heart cannot supply enough blood to meet the body's needs for oxygen and nutrients. Heart failure can affect the left side of the heart, the right side, or both.

The symptoms of heart failure can vary depending on the severity of the condition. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in the legs, ankles, and feet, and a rapid or irregular heartbeat. These symptoms may worsen over time.

Heart failure can be caused by a number of conditions that damage or weaken the heart muscle. These include coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, heart valve problems, and cardiomyopathy. Lifestyle factors such as obesity, smoking, and a lack of physical activity can also contribute to the development of heart failure.

Diagnosis of heart failure typically involves a medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram, and blood tests. Treatment aims to manage the symptoms, improve the quality of life, and prevent the condition from worsening. This may include lifestyle changes, medications, and in some cases, medical devices or surgery. While heart failure is a serious condition, with proper management, many people can live fulfilling lives.
