Syväsuodattimina is a Finnish term that translates to "deep filters" in English. In the context of industrial processes and environmental engineering, deep filters refer to filtration media that have a significant depth or thickness, allowing for the capture of particles throughout the entire volume of the filter material, not just on its surface. This is in contrast to surface filters, which trap contaminants on the external layer.

Deep filters are commonly employed in applications where a high capacity for particle removal is required or when dealing with a high concentration of suspended solids. The porous structure of deep filter media, often composed of granular materials like sand, anthracite, or specialized synthetic fibers, allows fluid to penetrate deep into the filter bed.
