The primary goal of cryonics is to preserve the body in a state where medical technology in the future may be able to repair any damage caused by the original disease or injury, as well as the cryopreservation process itself, and then revive the individual.

The practice is based on the speculative belief that science will advance to a point where such revival is possible. Currently, there is no known method to successfully revive a cryopreserved human. The scientific community generally regards cryonics as a pseudoscience, citing the lack of evidence for its feasibility and the significant challenges involved, such as preventing ice crystal formation during cooling and repairing cellular damage.
