Syntymämenettely, or childbirth, is the process by which a baby is born from the mother's uterus. It is a natural physiological process that typically occurs spontaneously. However, in some cases, medical intervention may be necessary to facilitate or manage the birth.

The first stage of labor, known as dilation, involves the cervix gradually opening to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal. After the birth, the mother and baby are typically monitored closely to ensure their health and well-being. The placenta is also checked to ensure it has been delivered completely. In some cases, a fourth stage of labor may occur, during which the uterus contracts to expel any remaining tissue or blood.
