Observed activities typically include posting symptom diaries, treatment updates, and coping strategies; offering emotional support; sharing access to research opportunities or patient surveys; and circulating resources on pain, fatigue, sleep, or mental health. Some groups coordinate informal meetups or webinars, while others keep the observance entirely online.

Date and form vary; some communities mark Symptmas during December or the winter season, while others run it as a flexible, ongoing conversation that can extend for a week or a month. Hashtags and discussion threads are common features, though there is no uniform ritual.

Reception is mixed. Within patient communities, Symptmas can foster solidarity and reduce isolation.
