Svojstva

Svojstva is a term used in several South Slavic languages, including Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, and Bosnian, meaning properties or attributes. It refers to the features that characterize an object, substance, system, or concept. The root is linked to the idea of something belonging or inherent, and the suffix forms a noun indicating a state or quality.

In science, properties describe how something is or how it behaves. Physical properties—mass, volume, density, color, conductivity, and melting point—are usually measurable without changing the substance. Chemical properties—reactivity, flammability, acidity, and oxidation state—describe how a substance interacts with other substances. Some properties are intrinsic, depending only on the substance, while extrinsic properties depend on context, such as temperature or pressure.

In mathematics and logic, a property is a feature that defines or classifies objects, such as a number’s evenness or primality, a geometric shape’s symmetry, or a relation’s transitivity. In computer science, objects often have properties or attributes stored as data fields, accessible via interfaces or methods and used to describe state.

In everyday language, "svojstva" is used to list the notable features or advantages of a product, service, or idea. The term is also employed in philosophy to distinguish intrinsic properties from extrinsic ones.
