Suverenitetu

Suverenitetu refers to the principle of supreme authority within a territory. It signifies the ultimate power and legitimacy of a state to govern itself without external interference. This concept encompasses both internal and external dimensions. Internally, a sovereign state possesses the exclusive right to make and enforce laws, administer justice, and maintain order within its borders. Externally, sovereignty means a state is independent and equal to other states in the international arena, free to conduct its foreign relations and enter into treaties.

The idea of sovereignty has evolved significantly throughout history, from the divine right of kings to the modern notion of popular sovereignty, where ultimate authority resides with the people. International law recognizes states as sovereign entities, and this principle underpins the system of nation-states. However, the absolute nature of sovereignty can be challenged by issues such as international human rights law, humanitarian intervention, and globalization, which can lead to debates about the limitations and responsibilities of sovereign states.
