SuttononDerwent is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles north-east of the city of York and lies on the River Derwent. The village has a history dating back to at least the Domesday Book, where it was recorded as Sudtone. The name "Sutton" is of Old English origin, meaning "south farmstead or village", and the addition of "onDerwent" indicates its location on the River Derwent.
