Suostuma

Suostuma is an Estonian verb meaning to consent, to agree to a proposal, request, or condition, or to comply with something. It denotes voluntary acceptance or assent in a wide range of contexts, from everyday decisions to formal agreements. The term is commonly used in spoken language as well as in written and official communication, including contracts, permissions, and procedures where consent is required. In legal and medical contexts, suostumine or its noun form suostumine (consent) is used to describe informed or voluntary agreement.

Conjugation and forms

In the present tense the verb is conjugated as: ma suostun, sa suostud, ta suostub, me suostume, te suostute, nad suostuvad. Past tense forms include: ma suostusin, sa suostusid, ta suostus, me suostusime, te suostusite, nad suostusid. The infinitive forms are suostuma and, in compound constructions, it can appear with various infinitives to express what one consents to doing. The verb can take objects in the sense of what is being consented to, for example a request, a meeting, or conditions.
