Suchraum

Suchraum is a German term meaning "search space" in the sense of the set of possible states, configurations, or solutions considered by a process. In technical disciplines, Suchraum is used to describe the domain over which an algorithm operates. In information retrieval and machine learning, the Suchraum may be formed by all potential query results, feature vectors, or parameter settings. The characteristics of the Suchraum—its size, topology, and constraints—affect algorithm design, search strategies, and computational requirements. For discrete problems the space is finite; for continuous problems it is infinite and may require pruning, heuristics, or approximation.

As a proper noun, Suchraum is also used as a name for cultural, artistic, or interdisciplinary spaces

The term is etymologically a compound of suchen and Raum, and is related in English to "search
