Subtropiilit

Subtropiilit is a term used in geography and climatology to describe regions that lie between the tropics and the polar circles. These areas are characterized by a transitional climate, experiencing characteristics of both tropical and temperate zones. Generally, subtropical regions are located between 23.5 and 40 degrees latitude in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

The climate in the subtropics often features hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. However, there can be significant variations. For instance, some subtropical areas experience distinct wet and dry seasons, while others have more consistent rainfall throughout the year. Coastal subtropical regions tend to have more moderate temperatures than inland areas, which can experience greater temperature extremes.

Subtropical climates support a diverse range of ecosystems. These can include subtropical rainforests, savannas, deserts, and Mediterranean-type shrublands, depending on local precipitation patterns and other factors. Many of these regions are also important for agriculture, with crops like citrus fruits, cotton, and sugarcane often thriving in these conditions. The term "subtropics" itself indicates a position just outside the tropical belt, inheriting some of its warmth but also feeling the influence of cooler, mid-latitude weather systems.
