Subtitlaus

Subtitlaus refers to the practice of adding subtitles to audio-visual content. These subtitles are typically displayed at the bottom of the screen and can be in the same language as the dialogue or translated into a different language. Subtitlaus serves multiple purposes, including accessibility for individuals with hearing impairments, comprehension enhancement for non-native speakers, and for viewers who prefer to watch content with the sound off.

There are two main types of subtitling: closed captions and open captions. Closed captions are a separate track that can be toggled on or off by the viewer. They often include not only dialogue but also descriptions of sound effects and other audio cues. Open captions, on the other hand, are permanently embedded into the video and cannot be turned off. The technology for subtitling has evolved significantly, from manual transcription and timing to automated speech recognition and real-time subtitling for live broadcasts.
