Subtiitrimine

Subtiitrimine is the process of adding text to a video to represent the dialogue, narration, or other relevant sounds. These subtitles are typically displayed at the bottom of the screen and serve multiple purposes, including translation for international audiences, accessibility for the hearing impaired, and comprehension assistance for viewers who may struggle with the original audio.

The creation of subtitles involves several steps. First, the audio content of the video is transcribed, creating a written record of all spoken words. This transcription is then synchronized with the video timeline, meaning each subtitle line appears and disappears at the precise moment it is spoken or relevant. For translated subtitles, the transcribed text is translated into the target language, maintaining the original meaning and tone as much as possible. Cultural nuances and idiomatic expressions often require careful adaptation.

Subtitles can be delivered in two main ways: burned-in or soft subtitles. Burned-in subtitles are permanently embedded into the video image itself and cannot be turned off. Soft subtitles, on the other hand, are separate files that can be toggled on or off by the viewer, and are often available in various languages. Subtitling plays a crucial role in making video content accessible and understandable to a wider audience, breaking down language barriers and accommodating diverse viewing needs.
