Substitutor

Substitutor is a term used to describe an agent, device, or process that replaces one element with another. While the exact meaning varies by field, the unifying idea is substitution: a substitutor applies rules or mappings that swap certain tokens, atoms, or groups for predefined alternatives.

In computing and data processing, a substitutor is a component that performs text or code substitution. It uses a mapping from placeholders or symbols to concrete values and applies this to a template, configuration file, or data stream.
