Støtteforwards

Støtteforwards, often translated as support forwards or second strikers, is a football (soccer) tactical role. It describes an attacking player who operates behind the main striker. Their primary responsibility is to link the midfield and the attack, providing support to the lone striker and creating scoring opportunities. Unlike a traditional winger, a støtteforwards is not confined to the flanks and is encouraged to move into central attacking positions.

The role demands a blend of offensive skills. Støtteforwards typically possess good dribbling ability, vision to pick out passes, and the capacity to score goals themselves. They are expected to be intelligent movers off the ball, finding pockets of space between the opposition's midfield and defense. This allows them to receive passes and dictate play in advanced areas.
