Støjplanlægning, often translated as noise planning or noise abatement, refers to the systematic process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating noise pollution in a given area. The primary goal is to protect human health and well-being from the adverse effects of excessive noise, which can include stress, sleep disturbances, hearing damage, and cognitive impairment.

The process typically begins with noise mapping, which involves measuring or modeling noise levels from various sources such as traffic, industry, and construction. This mapping helps to identify areas that are most exposed to noise and to understand the distribution and characteristics of the noise. Following the assessment, strategies are developed to reduce noise levels. These strategies can be broadly categorized into source control, path control, and receiver control.
