The plural form Sträußen appears in certain grammatical contexts such as the dative or genitive.

In floristry, a Strauß is designed to be visually balanced and easy to handle. Arrangements can be round and hand-tied, elongated, or cascading, with a focal flower surrounded by supporting blooms and foliage. Color, texture, and seasonal availability guide flower selection, while finishing touches include decorative papers, ribbons, or wrap. Commonly used flowers range from roses and lilies to seasonal blooms, complemented by greenery and filler such as baby’s breath.

Usage and cultural context vary by occasion. Sträußen are common gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations, and they play a prominent role in ceremonies such as weddings and funerals. Upon receipt, recut stems at an angle, remove leaves below the waterline, place in a clean vase with fresh water and gentle flower food, and change the water regularly.
