Stjórnsýsla

Stjórnsýsla refers to the organization, management, and supervision of public affairs and the administration of state and municipal activities to implement policy and deliver public services. It is the non-political, administrative machinery through which governments translate decisions into action, and it interacts with politics but operates under legal and institutional constraints.

Its scope includes central government ministries and agencies, local municipalities, and other public bodies; public procurement, budgeting and financial management; human resources and payroll; information management; and regulatory and administrative decision‑making.
