Steroidology

Steroidology is a term used to describe the study and practice related to anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS). These are synthetic variations of the male sex hormone testosterone. However, steroidology also addresses the non-medical use of AAS, primarily by athletes and bodybuilders seeking to enhance muscle mass, strength, and athletic performance. This practice is controversial and often illegal without a prescription. Non-medical use is associated with a wide range of adverse health effects, which can be serious and long-lasting. These can include cardiovascular problems, liver damage, hormonal imbalances, psychological effects like aggression, and potential for addiction.
