Stegoceras
Stegoceras is a genus of extinct ceratosaurian ornithopod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 77 to 74 million years ago. Fossils have been found primarily in the Greyhound Formation of the Sierra Madre Occidental in Mexico, as well as in the San Juan Basin of New Mexico and the southern Western Interior region of the United States. The genus is classified within the family Ceratopossippidae, a group of herbivorous dinosaurs that are distantly related to the more famous pachycephalosaurs, though they are morphologically distinct.

The type specimen was first described in 1909 by American paleontologist Carl H. Sternberg, who noticed that
