Staybehind

Staybehind, also known as a saboteur or resistance fighter, is a term used to describe individuals who engage in acts of sabotage or resistance against an occupying force. The concept originated during World War II, particularly in the context of the German resistance movement against Nazi occupation. Staybehind units were trained to carry out sabotage, espionage, and other forms of resistance against the enemy. These units were often organized and supported by the occupying power's own intelligence services, which would provide them with information and resources to carry out their missions.

The term "staybehind" refers to the idea that these individuals would remain behind after the initial invasion or occupation, continuing to fight against the enemy from the shadows.
