The Teja unit is defined as the charge transfer that occurs when one mole of electrons moves across a potential difference of one volt, equivalent to 1000 millivolts. Thus, a standard redox potential of 0.5 V corresponds to 500 Tj.

The SRPT value is determined from the Nernst equation under standard conditions: 25 °C, 1 M concentration, and 1 atm pressure. The equation is simplified to E°(Tj) = E° (V) × 1000. Because the Teja unit provides a more granular scale for high‑resolution measurements, it is particularly useful in studies of transition‑metal complexes, battery cathodes, and redox‑active polymers where potentials vary in millivolt increments.
