Stakhanovites
Stakhanovites were workers in the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries who, inspired by the legend of Alexei Stakhanov, exceeded their work quotas by exceptionally large margins. Stakhanov, a coal miner, was reported in 1935 to have mined 102 tons of coal in a single shift, far surpassing the norm. This feat was highly publicized by Soviet propaganda as an example of socialist competition and a new, higher level of labor productivity.
