Stafülokokiinfektsioonide are infections caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. These bacteria are common and can be found on the skin and in the noses of many healthy people without causing any problems. However, under certain circumstances, Staphylococcus can invade the body and lead to a variety of infections.

These infections can range in severity from minor skin conditions to life-threatening illnesses. Common skin infections include boils, impetigo, and cellulitis. Certain strains of Staphylococcus, particularly Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), have developed resistance to many common antibiotics, making them more difficult to treat. These resistant strains can spread easily in healthcare settings and in the community.

Risk factors for developing a Staphylococcus infection include weakened immune systems, recent surgery, invasive medical devices like catheters, and close contact with an infected person. Prevention strategies involve good hygiene practices, such as frequent handwashing, proper wound care, and avoiding sharing personal items. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, with the choice of drug depending on the specific type of Staphylococcus and its antibiotic susceptibility.
