Stafilos

Stafilos is a small village located on the southern coast of the island of Skopelos in Greece. It is situated about 4 kilometers south of the main port and town of Skopelos. The village is named after a mythical figure, Staphylus, son of Dionysus and Ariadne, who was said to have settled on the island.

The area of Stafilos is known for its beautiful namesake beach, Stafilos Beach, which is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The beach is characterized by its clear turquoise waters and is surrounded by lush green hillsides. Adjacent to Stafilos Beach is Velanio Beach, which is also accessible by a short walk.

The village itself is relatively small and offers a few amenities, including tavernas and accommodation options. It retains a more tranquil atmosphere compared to the main town of Skopelos. Its proximity to the main town makes it a convenient base for exploring the island while still offering a more secluded experience. The landscape around Stafilos is typical of Skopelos, featuring olive groves, pine trees, and wildflowers. The archaeological site of Staphylus' tomb is also located in the vicinity, adding historical significance to the area.
