Sreedharan

E. Sreedharan is an Indian civil engineer and politician. He is widely regarded as the person responsible for transforming the face of public transport in India. He is often referred to as the "Metro Man" of India.

Sreedharan's career began with the Indian Railway Service in 1954. He played a pivotal role in the completion of the Konkan Railway project, a 760-kilometer line that connects Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. His innovative engineering solutions and efficient project management were instrumental in overcoming significant geographical challenges.

His most notable achievement is his leadership in the construction of the Delhi Metro. Under his guidance, the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget, setting a new benchmark for public infrastructure projects in India. He also contributed to the development of the Kochi Metro and the Lucknow Metro.

After a distinguished career in engineering, Sreedharan entered politics. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2021 and contested the Kerala Legislative Assembly election. While he did not secure a seat, his political foray highlighted his continued commitment to public service. Sreedharan's legacy is one of technical excellence, visionary leadership, and a deep dedication to improving India's infrastructure.
