Spånskiva

Spånskiva, also known as particleboard, is a manufactured wood product. It is made by pressing together wood chips, sawdust, and other wood particles with a synthetic resin binder under heat and pressure. The result is a rigid, flat panel. Spånskiva is commonly used in furniture construction, shelving, flooring underlayment, and as a core material for laminate flooring. Due to its porous nature, spånskiva is susceptible to moisture damage and should be protected from water. When used in humid environments or for flooring, it is often sealed or covered with protective layers.

In some regions, spånskiva may also be referred to as chipboard or flakeboard. The manufacturing process aims to create a uniform material that is less prone to warping or cracking than solid wood.
