Springsto

Springsto is a fictional city in the northern lowlands of Veridia. The name combines the English word spring with the local suffix -sto, reflecting its historical association with natural springs and mineral waters. The city covers about 75 square kilometers and sits at the confluence of the Lyr and Mora rivers, in a region with a temperate oceanic climate.

Springsto originated as a spa settlement in the early 18th century and grew with railway access in the late 19th. It gained municipal rights in 1912 and expanded into light manufacturing and, more recently, services and tourism. The city relies on a mix of spa-related activity, hydropower from geothermal springs, and a growing software and hospitality sector.

Governance is based on a mayor-council system. The city council is elected, with committees for planning, culture, and safety. The economy benefits from a regional airport, a rail hub, and a university campus focused on engineering, environmental science, and tourism.

Culturally, Springsto hosts an annual Spring Festival featuring craft markets, concerts, and culinary fairs. The Springs District remains a center for wellness and historic bathhouses, while the Veridian Natural History Museum and the Maritime Gallery provide regional collections. The population stands around 60,000, with families, students, and retirees, and a multilingual community reflecting its university presence and immigrant arrivals.
