Springpots

Springpots are a type of plant container that incorporates a built-in watering mechanism. This mechanism typically consists of a reservoir at the bottom of the pot that holds water, and a wicking system that draws water up to the soil as the plant needs it. This self-watering feature is designed to reduce the frequency of manual watering and to provide a more consistent moisture level for the plant, which can help prevent overwatering or underwatering.

The design of springpots varies, but most share the fundamental principle of a separate water reservoir and a mechanism for the soil to access that water. Common wicking materials include felt strips, cords, or specially designed porous inserts. Some springpots also feature an indicator to show when the water reservoir needs refilling. These pots are often made from plastic or ceramic materials.

They can also be advantageous for plants that are sensitive to fluctuating moisture levels.
