Splenruptur is a fictional condition described in speculative fiction and horror genres, typically depicting a catastrophic rupture of the spleen. In these narratives, the event is often portrayed as sudden, violent, and frequently fatal, leading to massive internal bleeding and shock. The term itself is a portmanteau of "splen-" referring to the spleen, and "rupture," indicating a breaking or bursting.

The medical reality of a ruptured spleen, known as splenic rupture, is a serious emergency. It can be caused by blunt trauma to the abdomen, such as from a car accident or a fall, or less commonly, by penetrating injuries. In some cases, conditions that enlarge the spleen, like mononucleosis or certain blood disorders, can make it more susceptible to rupture even with minor trauma. Symptoms of a splenic rupture include abdominal pain, tenderness, dizziness, lightheadedness, and signs of shock. Medical intervention is crucial and may involve surgery to repair or remove the spleen.

However, in fictional contexts, Splenruptur is often exaggerated for dramatic effect. It might be a symptom of a disease, a curse, or a consequence of supernatural forces.
