Spinsterhood

Spinsterhood refers to the state of being an unmarried woman, particularly one past the customary age for marriage. Historically, the term "spinster" was a legal designation for an unmarried woman, often denoting her occupation as a spinner of thread. Over time, it evolved to carry social connotations, often implying a woman who had never married or was unlikely to marry.
