Spinien

Spinien is a hypothetical particle or excitation discussed in speculative approaches to quantum spin transport and spin dynamics. It is not part of established physics and has no experimental confirmation as of now. In some models, spinien is described as a spin-carrying quasiparticle that can propagate through certain materials, potentially moving spin information independently of charge and energy.

The name combines the word spin with the suffix -ien, a convention used in fictional or theoretical particle designations. Spinien figures in thought experiments about how angular momentum and quantum information might be conveyed through a medium without necessarily transporting electrical charge, offering a conceptual tool for exploring spintronics and related phenomena.

Theoretical treatments of spinien vary. In some proposals it may behave as a bosonic or fermionic excitation depending on the underlying framework. It is often considered in relation to other spin-related quasiparticles such as magnons, spinons, or anyons, and its interactions with electrons, phonons, or other excitations could influence spin currents, coherence, and entanglement propagation.
