Third-degree strains involve a complete rupture of the muscle fibers and tendon. These injuries are severe and can cause significant pain, swelling, and loss of function. Treatment for third-degree strains typically involves surgery to repair the torn muscle or tendon.

Prevention of muscle strains involves proper warm-up and cool-down exercises, maintaining good posture, and using proper lifting techniques. Stretching exercises can also help improve flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.
