Spetsiifilisemaid is a fictional term used in speculative biology and worldbuilding to describe a regulatory mechanism that yields species-specific expression of a gene or trait. The term does not correspond to a real, scientifically validated process, but it is used in imagined ecosystems and in discussions about how regulatory networks might enforce species boundaries in genetic constructs.

Conceptually, spetsiifilisemaid refers to a modular circuit that activates only in the presence of signals unique to a given species. In a hypothetical organism, a transgene would carry a spetsiifilisemaid module that responds to species-specific transcription factors or signaling molecules, thereby restricting expression to that species and reducing the chance of unintended activation in others.

In worldbuilding scenarios, spetsiifilisemaid is often invoked to explain how engineered organisms coexist with native flora and fauna, or how gene drives and synthetic traits could be contained. It also appears in simulations to explore the theoretical limits of cross-species specificity and to illustrate the design constraints imposed by regulatory networks.
