Spellboosting

Spellboosting refers to a class of mechanics in games where the power or efficiency of spells is increased by other effects. In digital card games and strategy games, spellboosting enhances the impact of spell cards beyond their base text, such as raising damage, extending healing, adding conditional effects, or reducing the mana cost of casting spells. The term is used in community discussions to describe strategies and synergies that focus on boosting spells rather than minions or weapons.

Common forms include cost reductions, spell power or damage modifiers, copying or duplicating spells so they can be cast more than once, granting additional casts or discovery effects that provide boosted spells, and temporary or persistent buffs to spell-related stats.

Examples in practice vary: a board-wide buff that increases all your spells' damage this turn; a relic or ability that makes the next spell cheaper; a minion that enables a spell to be cast twice or to copy itself; and conditional effects that trigger when you cast a boosted spell.

Strategic considerations include how a spellboosting plan fits with deck composition, tempo, and resource management, as well as vulnerabilities to removal or disruption of the boosting effects.
