Speedskaters

Speedskaters are athletes who compete in the sport of speed skating, which involves racing on ice skates over a set distance. The sport is divided into two main disciplines: long track and short track. Long track speed skating takes place on a large oval track, typically 400 meters in length, where skaters race individually against the clock or in pairs. Short track speed skating is held on a smaller indoor rink, usually 111.2 meters around, and features multiple skaters competing simultaneously in a pack, often leading to exciting and tactical races.

Speedskaters require a unique combination of explosive power, endurance, and technical skill. They train rigorously to develop strong leg muscles for propulsion, a low center of gravity for stability and aerodynamics, and precise edge control for efficient turning and speed maintenance.
