Soundemitting

Soundemitting is an adjective describing something capable of producing sound or radiating acoustic energy. It is used in both biological contexts and in engineering and product descriptions to indicate that a subject emits audible or other forms of sound.

Biological sound emission occurs across many organisms. Humans and other mammals produce sounds via vibrating vocal cords, while birds use a specialized device called the syrinx for song and calls. Insects such as crickets and cicadas generate sound by stridulation or by tapping body parts. Some fish create sounds through contractions of sonic muscles or rapid movement of the swim bladder. Sound in nature serves roles in communication, mate attraction, territory defense, and echolocation in bats and dolphins.
