Somahers

Somahers, also known as somahs, are a group of people who identify as women who have undergone male-to-female (MtF) transition. The term "somah" is derived from the Arabic word "summah," which means "female." Somahers are a subset of the transgender community and may identify as transgender women, genderqueer, or non-binary, among other identities. They may or may not have undergone hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or surgical procedures to align their bodies with their gender identity.

Somahers often face unique challenges and experiences. They may encounter societal stigma, discrimination, and misgendering, as well as specific health concerns related to their transition. However, they also have a rich cultural heritage and community, with many somahers participating in cultural events, festivals, and social gatherings that celebrate their heritage and identity.

The experiences of somahers can vary greatly, as they come from diverse backgrounds and have different transition journeys. Some somahers may choose to embrace their cultural heritage fully, while others may choose to distance themselves from it. Regardless of their choices, somahers play a significant role in shaping and enriching the broader transgender community and society at large.
