Soluvauvan

Soluvauvan is a fictional concept used in speculative biology and science fiction to describe a hypothetical ultra-small, cell-like endosymbiotic entity that resides inside a host cell. The term is a constructed compound inspired by the Finnish words solu (cell) and vauva (baby), with soluvauvan often treated as a proper noun in fictional works.

In this speculative model, a soluvauvan would be a micro-scale organism—roughly a few hundred nanometers to a couple of micrometers in size—with a minimal genome capable of self-replication under suitable conditions and of exchanging metabolites with its host. Its cellular machinery would be simplified and specialized for an intracellular lifestyle, and its energy needs would be largely met by host-derived resources.

Its life cycle is imagined to begin with entry into a host cell, possibly via endocytosis or vesicle-mediated transfer, followed by residence in the cytoplasm or a specialized vacuole. Reproduction could occur through budding or binary fission within the host, with replication tightly integrated to the host cell cycle.
